Among the first street rods to appear in the 1950's the Willys Americar coupe provided a legendary platform for conversion. Originally equipped with a anemic and unreliable 4 -cylinder engine, these cars made their way to junkyards within a decade. YTher street rod fabricators grabbed onto the lightweight cars which could be fitter with more powerful V8 engines. These cars body panels were heavily customized, shaved, slammed and given either a California rake for street use or a Gasser lifted front end and beer keg gas tank in place of the front bumper for drag racing. Most cars you see today and kit cars or with fiberglass fenders, truck lid and hood. This car retains all its steel panels which is extremely rare.
