Mark Donohue was an American race car driver and engineer who drove the Javelin to three victories, helping AMC finish second overall in the Manufacturers Championship. Only 2,501 of these special editions were created by AMC. One of the modifications made to the SST Mark Donohue Editon was a rear spoiler conceived by Donohue himself. Trans Am racing mandates state that in order to use this special rear spoiler, the spoiler has to be homologated. In a nutshell, that means that AMC must produce a minimum of 2,500 Javelins with this modification that the average Joe can purchase.
